Round Rock has its round rock and no one can dispute that we like to Keep Austin Weird. So Pflugerville finds itself between a Rock and a Weird Place, as they like to say. It's an apt description for a town with a strong German heritage that is often overshadowed by the powerful identities of its neighbors. The central part of Pflugerville, known as Old Town Pflugerville, is the heart of this historic community. 

Pflugerville began to grow rapidly in the early to mid-'90s due to quick and easy access to Dell Computers and downtown Austin. During that growth phase, Pflugerville saw the development of Tech Ridge Center, which brought major retailers to the area along the IH 35 corridor as well as a commuter bus dedicated to providing transit to the downtown Austin area. Tech Ridge was followed closely by The Domaine, which has become home to a second downtown for Austin. But most recently the small town has seen a large influx of tech employees with the expansion of Samsung and the arrival of the new Tesla GigaFactory, which is a quick drive up State Highway 130. 

With land still available to be developed, we probably haven't seen the last of Pflugerville's expansion.
